Started training at the age of 9 in Johnannesburg South Africa and then with the JKS New Zealand
She trained her early years under Shihan Malcolm Dorfman (South Africa) with the original Japan Karate Association (JKA)
Gained her Shodan (JKA) in 2007 under instruction and examination by Shihan Asai in New Zealand
Successfully Gained her Nidan in 2010
New Zealand Competition ~ Competed successfully for several years in sanctioned Karate New Zealand tournaments and recieved numerous placements.
JKS World Champs ~ Attended as competitor (Kata and Kumite) at the JKS World Championships in Okinawa 2007 and achieved top 8 placement in

Gemma is a excellent example of a high level Karate-ka is very well respected within the Karate fraternity. we are lucky to have her as a JKS instructor and mentor for many students.
